New York Rangers take on Buffalo Sabres in shootout
The New York Islanders have won six straight games to start the season, while Buffalo Sabres have lost seven straight to start.
The New York Times says the Islanders are the most dominant team in the NHL, with a 21-1-1 record.
The Buffalo News says the Isles have the best goaltending in the league with an 8-1 mark.
According to Hockey Reference, the Islanders have the third best possession numbers in the Eastern Conference.
New York Rangers forward Henrik Lundqvist won the Norris Trophy for the second straight year in 2018-19.
Lundqvist leads the league in goals and points, and the Rangers are tied for the third-most goals in the conference.
NHL.com says the Rangers lead the league for the most power-play goals with 30.
“It’s been a pretty consistent season so far,” said Sabres forward Seth Jones, who has seven goals and 11 assists for 14 points in his last nine games.
Jones has scored eight goals in his past four games.
The Islanders are also coming off back-to-back home wins.
They defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday and the Ottawa Senators 2-0 on Monday.
